Why buy MICHELIN® tires ?
Our proven tire designs enable us to combine soil protection, fuel savings and long service life in one tire: three key elements of performance that make Michelin tires the choice of Professional Farmers on a daily basis.
Tire inflation pressure, which is directly transmitted to the ground plays a vital role in the formation of compaction and ruts which are major causes of soil deterioration.
Exclusive Michelin® technology enables our tires to operate in certain cases at 7 to 15 psi less pressure than is required for standard tires, thus cutting the impact of the machine on the soil in half.
The design of every Michelin® agricultural tire is engineered to maximize the footprint. Michelin® agricultural tires have the benefit of exclusive “Michelin Ultraflex Technologies” and are the first tires available on the market that satisfy the new international standard (tires with high and very high deflexion, IF / VF).
By limiting compaction and the formation of ruts, working at low pressure (1) facilitates the uptake and retention of water and nutrients.
Michelin® agricultural tires enable rut depths to be reduced by up to 55% (2). Thanks to soil preservation and improvement in rainwater infiltration, the shallower rut resulting from the use of Michelin® agricultural tires means that soil erosion can be limited. It also enables the application of crop inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) to be better utilized by limiting their runoff.
Tests conducted by an independent institute (3) show that “Michelin Ultraflex Technologies" tires significantly reduce soil compaction compared with classic technology tires. In concrete terms, after a pass by an agricultural machine equipped with Michelin® tires, the soil is protected whereas after a pass by the same machine equipped with competitor tires, the soil quality is reduced and crop response is decreased.
The development of roots is improved and the biodiversity is therefore preserved. Michelin Ultraflex Technology tires provide benefit for the farmer and the environment by reducing soil damage and increasing crop yield.
