Michelin presence in the agriculture business started before World War Two.
- 1933: First tires for tractors tested
- 1947: Michelin introduces the Labour, a bias farm tire, to the European market
- 1966: Launch of the BibaGrip, a tire for the front wheels of tractors for row crop work, which can be fitted as single or duals
- 1976: Launch of the X'Bib, Michelin's first radial tire for agricultural machines.
- 1984: Launch of the X27 Large Volume, a standard tread R1 flotation radial for combines and tractors
- 1988: Launch of the XM28, a deep tread R1W flotation radial for combines and tractors
- 1989: Launch of the XM108 TL, a low profile tire which enables farmers
to gain up to 20% larger footprint and 30% lower ground pressure as compared to standard profile radials
- 1992: Launch of the XM47™ high speed, which can travel at speeds up to 55 mph
- 1995. Launch of the Agribib®, a standard profile R1W deep lug radial for all-around service
- 1997: Michelin Agricultural Tires starts its North American operations
- 1998: Launch of the MegaXBib®, the largest agricultural tire in the world, It greatly reduces soil compaction
- 2001: Launch of the MachXBib®, a high-floatation R1+ radial for high horsepower tractors
- 2001: Launch of the XM37® Industrial, engineered for use on backhoes and material handling machines
- 2002: Michelin tires help set new world record in plowing. A tractor fitted
with MachXbib® tires and trailing a plower fitted with CargoXBib® tires plowed a surface of over 620 acres, the equivalent of 370 football fields, in 24 hours
- 2002: Certain MegaXBib® tires are now available for Terra-Gator machines.
The reliability and the productivity of the MegaXBib® and Terra-Gator allow them to work well together in almost any field.
- 2003: Michelin wins the 2003 Gold Medal for Innovation. Michelin introduced the latest tire innovation called Ultraflex Technology at the Agritechnica Show in Germany. This technology has been built into the Xeobib tire, the first tire able to run at less than 14 psi, in the field and on the road, regardless of speed.
- 2006: The Michelin Axiobib tire with Ultraflex Technology is introduced on the new Challenger MT975B tractor at the Farm Machinery Show, held in Louisville, KY during February. The Ultraflex Technology incorporated into the Axiobib allows farmers to carry the same load at 20% lower pressures, which reduces soil compaction and provides a much larger footprint than even the Michelin MachXBib, our current large volume tire.
