"It cost extra to get Michelin tires on a new tractor, but it was worth
every penny."
Jason Siegert has run Michelin MachXbib® tires since 1997.
"We had been running a Ford New Holland 9880 tractor on Goodyear triples,
but we were having trouble with traction and power hop. My Michelin
rep convinced me to try the MachXbib® radials. We ran them pretty hard
to see how they would hold up to abuse. We went from triples to doubles
and ran them at 6 psi. They held up really well, and we lost our power hop,
gained traction and achieved such a beautiful ride. We got 6,000 hours in
seven years before we traded the tractor.
Fuel economy is a good selling point nowadays, and the Michelin radials give us
better fuel economy by reducing slip and improving traction. Fuel prices are
high, but you still have to get your tractor out in the field and get the
job done. So it’s nice when you can run tires that help you become more
productive and efficient.
It cost an extra $1,500 each to get Michelin tires on the new tractor, but it
was worth every penny. Costs are relative, and for whatever you spend on
Michelin radials, you save even more in fuel efficiency and increased yields
due to less soil compaction. Using Michelin tires on my tractor makes a huge
difference."
