"Combines are very heavy equipment and I feel they need
large volume low pressure tires to help reduce compaction.
When no-tilling Winter Wheat, heavy depressions from Bias
Ply Tires on our flat heavy clay soils, allows ice to form
through the winter in these depressions causing wheat suffocation.
In 2001, which was the first year after installing the 1050/50R32
Megaxbib Tires, we experienced the worse ice damage ever in
our Winter Wheat. There was no evidence of a single wheel
mark anywhere. The wide low pressure Michelin Radials had
no impact on this ice problem.
In 2000, we experienced a very wet summer. During the harvest
of the Winter Wheat, we found excellent floatation and left
no wheel marks. Adversely the manure spreaders hired to work
our land with their 44" bias ply tires at 35 psi with
similar axle loads left significant depressions.
It would be my suggestion that no other Combine should be
operating without Michelin."
