Maple took delivery of two Case MX MFWA tractors in Jan 2001. They came
equipped with OE Michelin 480/0R42 singles on the rear and 420/90R30 Agribib
on the front. These tractors were placed into service in the dairy pulling
Peecom 1300 cattle feed mixers which weight 35,000 to 40,000 lbs each.
The tractors work approximate 12 to 14 hours a day - 7 days a week pulling
the feed mixers all through the dairy on concrete roadways, accumulating about
4500 hours each year. The application involves a significant amount of
turning and scrubbing. Quite often the tractor operators spin and even
smoke the tires on concrete surfaces while attempting to spread excess
feed which has spilled from the mixer. This is a very abusive application.
The Michelin Agribibs, front and rear tires, were replaced in November 2003
after accumulating 9400 service hours on one set and 9800 hours on the second set.
"We did not have one flat on these Michelin tires during the two years they were
on the two tractors. I've been involved in farming operations for the past 25
years and I've never seen tires last that long. In this application the
Michelins are definitely worth the extra money".
